Murray sums up grass season: not satisfied with results, more physical

As the ATP250 Newport draws to a close, this year's grass season is almost over.

Murray had lost his fourth meeting of the season against Kazakhstan's Arturo Bublik in the last eight.

Summing up his performance afterwards, Murray said: "I would have liked to have played a little bit better, but I didn't. But at the moment, the body feels good and can play more games, which is relatively more important."

Murray has a penchant for playing on grass and is second only to Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in terms of all-time records among active players.

So, what's his record on grass this year?

Surbiton Challenge semifinal lost to Kudra

Murray's first grass-court event of the year is a challenge. Earlier, he chose to skip the entire clay-court season (only a token appearance at the Madrid Masters) to join former coach Lendl once again.

He did not play an official match for nearly a month. It's a good idea for a veteran like Murray to get back to the game and find his touch. The Briton was in good form and lost to Kudela in the semi-finals.

Stuttgart lost to Beretini in the final

Murray went on to play in Stuttgart in high spirits and steamrolled his way into the final. Beretini, the Italian who was the wimbledon runner-up last year and is regarded as the second best player on grass, was the runner-up.

Since then, Murray has opted not to play at home at Queen's or Halley (he later retired), instead taking time off to rest, with the two-time champion opting to focus on wimbledon.

Lost to Isner in the second round of Wimbledon

Murray is expected more than Norrie, who is ranked higher in the world, at Wimbledon.

The former grass strength still needs to be further tested, and Murray's condition is picked up obviously. But in the end, With the help of the tournament, Norrie signed all the way to the final four.

Murray lost in the second round of Wimbledon to The American cannon, Michael Isner, who was a bit disorientated by his opponent's powerful serve.

Newport lost to Bleblek in the quarter final

Murray again ran into Bublik, who once joked that "sleeping in bed is better than playing on grass", but showed no slackness on court as he put an end to the Briton's tour of Newport.

It has been nearly three years since Murray won his last title (Antwerp in 2019). The Brit reached the final twice this year in Sydney and Stuttgart, only to finish second.
